Lover’s Paradice: A Laneway in the Making
About the Project-
Northbridge Common working with the community to explore what Lover’s Paradice Laneway could become.
There’s plenty of potential here, from more greenery and better lighting to public art, places to sit and small community activations. We want to try things out, see what works and create a laneway that feels safer, more welcoming and more connected to the people who use it.
Most importantly, we want to build on what’s already here and celebrate the local businesses, artists, characters and community that make this place unique.
Why This Laneway?
Tucked between Bar Love and Peasant’s Paradice, Lover’s Paradise Laneway is already part of the daily flow of our little neighbourhood corner- connecting people with local businesses, venues and places to explore.
Hundreds of people pass through each day, but there’s an opportunity to make the laneway somewhere people want to do more than simply pass through.
We’d like to explore what could make it more welcoming, interesting and enjoyable, from art and greenery to places to pause, meet and spend time.
By working with local businesses, artists, residents and the wider community, we create something that reflects the vibe of our ‘hood.
How We'll Do It...
LISTEN
Start with the people who know the laneway best. Hear from locals, businesses, artists and the people who use it every day.
TRY
Test out ideas for art, planting, lighting, seating and other small changes to see what works.
CREATE
Work together to shape a laneway that feels welcoming, useful and connected to the people around it.
CONNECT
Bring local businesses, artists, community groups and neighbours together to create opportunities for collaboration and activation.
What Would You Like to See?
Lover’s Paradise Laneway is a community-led project, and we want to hear from the people who know and use the area.
What would make you want to stop, stay a while and spend time here? Share your ideas, big or small, and help us imagine what the laneway could become.
