Thanks to everyone that came along to our successful Picnic in the Park event to celebrate Neighbour Day on Sunday 31 March.
This is Australia’s annual celebration of community, encouraging people to connect with those who live in their neighbourhood. And boy did we do that!
We decked out Stuart Street Reserve and had an absolute ball. Tim our events guru (also from Spaced Out Placemakers) set up a cardboard city, some cool lounges and rugs and beanbags. The lovely Ryan from Steel Fitness provided a toilet at his nearby gym and stayed open especially for us – and hung out too of course.
Thanks to our resident DJ Simon for his records and musical taste, and to our guests DJ, Jefferson.. they played the quintessential summer soundtrack. Thanks also to State Member for Perth John Carey who hung out and played games with everyone for much of the day.
It was great to see our local neighbourhood peeps coming together to share some laughs and picnic food, including homemade treats. Everyone mingled with each other and some were even neighbours years ago and only realised it on the day. A highlight was the raw egg throwing contest – hilarious!
Thanks to Suburban Exposure for the photos, which you can view here on our Facebook page – they really sum up the event!
We love our neighbourhood – thanks for coming along and if you have any ideas for events, then get in touch via our Contact page.
